Love Island USA stars JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez broke their silence about their split in dueling Instagram statements posted July 29.
The breakup turned messy when the former couple shared conflicting accounts of why their relationship ended.
Craig, 28, posted first to her Instagram Stories with a statement addressing her followers.
“Thank you for all your love & support. It means the world to me. As you know, Kenny and I are no longer together. Please know that I have seen all the breakup theories and none have matched up to how terrible, disgusting and disappointing it truly is.”
She didn’t hold back in describing her disappointment.
“Discovering that someone you loved isn’t who you thought they were and that the relationship you thought you were building hasn’t been genuine since day one has been truly devastating. Thank you for respecting my privacy and please know as a child of God, I will always be okay.”
Rodriguez Responds With His Own Statement
Rodriguez posted his own statement shortly after Craig’s went live.
The reality star described the situation as difficult but took a more diplomatic approach.
“I’ve been quietly sitting with a lot of emotions and doing my best to process everything privately. Breakups are never easy, especially in the public eye. Sometimes, despite how deeply you care for someone, you come to the hard truth that the relationship was not something that could last long-term.”
He ended his statement on what seemed like a peaceful note.
“I’ll always be grateful for the time we shared and the memories we created. I release this chapter with no ill will, only a hope that JaNa’s path forward brings her nothing but happiness.”
Craig Fires Back After Rodriguez’s Statement
Craig wasn’t having any of Rodriguez’s diplomatic tone and fired back immediately.
Her second statement was much more direct and angry.
“stfu you manipulative liar. You are not taking accountability and telling people the type of person you really are is insane to me!! My first statement was me being nice. Do not piss me off”
The escalation showed just how bitter the split had become between the fan-favorite couple.
The Split Was Confirmed Earlier This Week
A source confirmed to PEOPLE on Monday, July 28, that the season 6 couple was no longer together.
“There was no big, public blowout. That did not happen.”
The source was addressing speculation about a fight at David Dobrik’s birthday party on Saturday, July 26, which they attended together.
Craig broke up with Rodriguez, 25, the morning after the party.
The source made it clear the split was final: “They will not be getting back together.”
