Melrose Place Star Courtney Thorne-Smith Files for Divorce After 18 Years of Marriage

Melrose Place actress Courtney Thorne-Smith has filed for divorce from her husband Roger Fishman after 18 years of marriage, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

The 57-year-old actress filed the paperwork herself without an attorney on June 17 in Los Angeles Superior Court. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split.

Thorne-Smith requested joint custody of the couple’s 17-year-old son, Jacob Emerson.

She also asked the court to terminate spousal support options for both parties. The documents show the couple has been separated since September 2021.

Thorne-Smith and Fishman got married on New Year’s Day in 2007. Their separation means they’ve been living apart for nearly three years before filing for divorce.

This marks Thorne-Smith’s second marriage. She was briefly married to geneticist Andrew Conrad from 2000 to 2001. That marriage didn’t produce any children.

Personal History

The actress previously dated her Melrose Place costar Andrew Shue while filming the hit ’90s drama series.

During an August 2024 episode of the Still the Place podcast, Thorne-Smith talked about working with Shue after their breakup. She said the experience was “shockingly not weird” but they did set some boundaries.

The former couple implemented a “no tongue” rule for their characters’ kissing scenes on set.

Thorne-Smith became a household name playing Allison Parker on Melrose Place from 1992 to 1997. She later starred in shows like Ally McBeal and According to Jim.

The divorce filing comes as Thorne-Smith’s son approaches adulthood. At 17, Jacob will soon be making decisions about college and his future career path.
