A representative confirmed to PEOPLE that beauty YouTuber Gigi Gorgeous and her husband Nats Getty have filed for divorce after nearly six years of marriage.
“Gigi Gorgeous and Nats Getty confirm they have amicably decided to part ways and officially file for divorce. While they have decided to end their marriage, they remain friends and have the utmost love and respect for each other.”
Nats filed for divorce on Wednesday, July 2, in Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The LGBTQ+ advocate, 33, and Nats, 32, married in July 2019. They first met about three years before their wedding.
IVF Journey and Family Plans
In 2023, the couple opened up to PEOPLE about their hopes to start a family through IVF.
Gigi explained she only realized how much she wanted children after getting together with Nats. However, she worried it might not be possible for them to conceive together after being on hormones since the beginning of her transition.
“No one really talked to me about freezing what I had, my DNA for the future children that I wanted to have. I just really wasn’t thinking about it. And it wasn’t until I really got to know Nats and his values and just got together as a couple that we were like, ‘We ultimately do want kids.'”
Both Nats – who works as the creative director and founder of his clothing company Strike Oil – and Gigi made major lifestyle changes to improve their chances with IVF.
The vlogger had to stop taking hormones for the first time in 10 years. Both focused on their physical health and fitness.
Their first round of IVF resulted in two embryos using her sperm sample and Nats’ frozen eggs. By December 2023, they updated PEOPLE with more positive news about their fertility journey. They had a total of six embryos.
Social Media Openness
Gigi has been open about her desire for motherhood on her YouTube channel, where she has over 2.6 million followers.
In 2018, she expressed both her desire to welcome kids with Nats and her frustration at the prospect of the process.
“I feel like it’s a natural progression for two people in love to talk about having children and taking that next step in creating a family. I’ve always wanted to get married. I’ve always wanted to have kids and have a family, but I never actually thought that it would happen for me, and now that I’m here, it’s kind of like … f—.”
The couple’s divorce filing comes after years of publicly sharing their relationship journey and family planning efforts with their followers.
