The Kid LAROI has confirmed his split from Tate McRae through a series of posts on X addressing rumors and shady tweets about their relationship.
The Australian rapper and singer shared screenshots Friday showing his efforts to distance himself from posts targeting the “Sports Car” artist. The revelation came after fans accused his team of “paying for slander tweets” against McRae that included lyrics from his latest single “Hot Girl Problems.”
The Kid LAROI, 21, denied any involvement in the social media drama.
“so yall know I have NOTHING to do with this and I DO NOT co sign this behavior whatsoever. working to get these removed,” he wrote.
The screenshots showed him asking a team member directly about the posts targeting McRae.
“Guys is this coming internally?” he asked. “If so can we please have these taken down.”
He then revealed where things stand with the 22-year-old Canadian singer.
“Tate and I are on good terms and this just looks messy / whack.”
His team member responded they’d “make moves” to address the situation. Another team member said the posts targeting McRae “definitely didn’t come from us that’s f—– up.”
Representatives for both artists haven’t responded to requests for comment.
Relationship Timeline
McRae and The Kid LAROI first sparked dating rumors in January 2024.
The speculation began when McRae shared a mirror selfie on Instagram wearing a black one-piece with a button-down shirt. Fans noticed the shirt looked similar to one The Kid LAROI had worn.
The Kid LAROI added fuel to the rumors by commenting a sunglasses emoji on her post.
Over the following months, they were spotted together multiple times. They went on dinner dates in Los Angeles and held hands at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game in Toronto.
The Kid LAROI seemingly confirmed their relationship during a concert in April 2024. He told the audience his “girlfriend” was watching from backstage, where McRae was positioned.
The couple didn’t go public until July 2024. The Kid LAROI shared a photo of them kissing on his Instagram Stories for McRae’s 21st birthday.
“happy 21st birthday ,” he wrote. “you make me better! I love yoooouuu @tatemcrae.”
McRae posted a similar birthday message for The Kid LAROI a month later, writing “@thekidlaroi i love you soooooo much.”
The relationship lasted approximately one year before the apparent split was revealed through Friday’s social media posts.
