Steven Tyler and his longtime girlfriend Aimee Preston are still together, despite rumors suggesting otherwise.
TMZ reported Friday that the Aerosmith frontman and Preston had broken up after more than 10 years together.
PEOPLE confirmed the couple hasn’t actually split.
TMZ later updated their story to reflect the same information.
The 77-year-old rock star and his 38-year-old girlfriend have maintained their relationship despite the 39-year age gap between them.
Preston first started working as Tyler’s personal assistant in October 2012. She shared her first Instagram photo with Tyler in 2013.
Before working with Tyler, she was a personal assistant for Marla Maples, Christina Aguilera and the Beckham family, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Their professional relationship became romantic over time.
They made their official debut as a couple in February 2016 at an Academy Awards viewing party for Elton John’s AIDS Foundation.
One of their most recent public appearances came in February 2024 at the 6th Jam for Janie Grammy Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles. Preston attended alongside Tyler and his daughter Mia Tyler.
Tyler’s Family
Tyler has four children from previous relationships.
His daughters include Liv Tyler, whom he shares with singer and model Bebe Buell, and Mia Tyler, who he shares with his late former wife Cyrinda Foxe. He also has daughter Chelsea Tyler and son Taj Tyler with ex-wife Teresa Barrick.
Private Relationship
Tyler and Preston don’t often speak about each other publicly. They do show affection on red carpets and share occasional social media posts about one another.
Preston marked Tyler’s birthday in 2020 with photos of them covered in mud from a trip to the Dead Sea.

Tyler gives his girlfriend social media shout-outs, especially on Valentine’s Day and her birthday. He often uses lyrics from the Aerosmith song “Deuces Are Wild” when captioning their photos together.
The song includes lyrics like “cause you and me is two of a kind.”
