Sabrina Carpenter appeared to throw some shade at her ex-boyfriend, actor Barry Keoghan, through several recent social media posts.
The 26-year-old singer reposted two videos from a popular TikTok trend. Users write “It’s been a tough year, but at least I didn’t get back with my ex” in the videos. They’re set to her song “Manchild.”
Representatives for Carpenter and Keoghan didn’t immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Timeline of Their Relationship
The “Espresso” singer and Saltburn actor first sparked romance rumors in December 2023. They were spotted grabbing dinner together in Los Angeles.
They were seen out together in the following months, including sharing some PDA. Keoghan regularly left sweet comments on Carpenter’s Instagram posts.
However, Carpenter stayed quiet about their relationship status in a June 2024 interview with Rolling Stone.
“How do I skirt around this question?”
That’s what she said when asked if she called the Irish-born Keoghan her boyfriend.
In August 2024, an inside source told PEOPLE that the pair were “on and off.”
Professional Collaboration
Carpenter cast Keoghan in the music video for her song “Please Please Please” in June. She later praised his talents while chatting with CBS Sunday Morning’s Tracy Smith in October.
“I was like, ‘Who’s the greatest actor that I can find for this music video?’ And he was next to me in a chair. And he was so excited about it.”
The Breakup and Aftermath
After announcing their split in December 2024, Keoghan publicly announced that he had deactivated his Instagram account. He cited online harassment as the reason.
“I can only sit and take so much,”
He wrote in a message on X, noting that his name had been “dragged across the internet.”
“I have to respond now because it’s gettin to a place where too many lines are being crossed. I deactivated my [Instagram] account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work.”
The Dunkirk actor noted that “no person should ever have to read” the messages he has received. He cited “Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine.”
The couple’s relationship lasted approximately one year before they parted ways in December 2024.
