Rachel Zoe is seeking joint custody of her two children after filing for divorce from Rodger Berman, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The stylist and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star filed the paperwork in Los Angeles on Monday, July 21. She’s asking for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s sons, Skyler, 14, and Kaius, 11.
The documents also request that both parents have visitation rights.
Details From the Filing
The court papers list June 27, 2024, as the couple’s official separation date. They cite “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for ending their marriage after 26 years and four months together.
Zoe and Berman wed on February 15, 1998.
The filing doesn’t mention child support. Both parties are asking to waive spousal support and want their assets divided separately.
Zoe has also requested to restore her legal name from Rachel Zoe Berman back to Rachel Zoe.
Joint Announcement in September
The former couple announced their “mutual decision” to divorce in September 2024. They promised to continue co-parenting their children together.
“We are incredibly proud of the loving family we have created and our countless memories together,” they wrote in a joint Instagram statement.
“Our number one priority has been and will always be our children. We are committed to co-parent our boys and to continue to work together within the many businesses we share.”
Their Relationship History
Zoe and Berman met while attending George Washington University, seven years before their 1998 wedding, according to Us Weekly.
The pair celebrated their 31st anniversary together in 2022 with a social media tribute.
“We have done this life together and I cannot wait to see what is yet to come. Happiest anniversary to my person,” Zoe wrote at the time. She added, “And yes, everyone, we met in kindergarten.”
Focus on the Children
Skyler and Kaius are close siblings who became even tighter during homeschooling, Zoe told PEOPLE in 2021.
For their first Thanksgiving after announcing the split, The Rachel Zoe Project star reflected on what she was “most grateful for” in an Instagram post. She admitted “this year has been a very interesting one, challenging in many ways.”
After joining the Real Housewives franchise, Zoe told PEOPLE in July that it was “ridiculous” to see rumors she was “doing the show for the money.”
