Rachel Zoe has filed for divorce from her estranged husband Rodger Berman, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. The fashion designer submitted the paperwork in Los Angeles on July 21, ten months after the couple announced their separation.
The 53-year-old stylist and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star cited “irreconcilable differences” in the filing. She listed June 27, 2024, as the date their relationship ended.
Zoe and Berman married in 1998 and share two sons – Skyler, 14, and Kaius, 10.
The divorce documents show Zoe is requesting joint legal and physical custody of their children. Neither party is seeking spousal support, and they’ve asked to divide their assets separately.
Zoe also requested to legally change her name back to Rachel Zoe.
The Separation Announcement
The couple first announced their split in September 2024 through a joint statement on Instagram.
“After 33 years together and 26 years married, Rodger and I have come to the mutual decision to end our marriage. We are incredibly proud of the loving family we have created and our countless memories together.”
They emphasized their commitment to co-parenting in the statement.
“Our number one priority has been and will always be our children. We are committed to co-parent our boys and to continue to work together within the many businesses we share.”
The pair asked for privacy as they adjusted to the changes.
A Long Relationship
Zoe and Berman’s relationship spanned over three decades. They met while attending George Washington University, according to Us Weekly, seven years before they wed.
Just two years ago, Zoe celebrated their bond on their 31st anniversary.
“We have done this life together and I cannot wait to see what is yet to come. Happiest anniversary to my person . And yes, everyone, we met in kindergarten “
Moving Forward
Zoe reflected on the changes in her life during a November 2024 Instagram post for Thanksgiving.
“This year has been a very interesting one, challenging in many ways but also strengthening in many ways.”
She spoke about leaning on her support system more than ever.
“I don’t think I’ve ever leaned on my friends or my family the way I have this year and I’m happy to say that not only am I so beyond lucky and grateful to have the two most extraordinary children on this planet that I am so lucky to call my little princes, and will always be.”
In July, Zoe addressed her decision to join the Real Housewives franchise, dismissing rumors about her motivations.
“While building my different businesses and raising my kids over the past 10 years, I’ve discussed coming back to TV in different ways. But for me to go back, it had to be when I really felt like I had a lot to share and a lot to say. Publicly, as we know, my life has shifted in many ways personally and professionally.”
