Nina Dobrev has returned to Instagram following her split from Shaun White.
The Vampire Diaries actress, 36, shared a photo to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday showing hugs from two young relatives. The moment comes nearly a week after PEOPLE confirmed on Sept. 11 that she and the Olympic snowboarder, 39, had broken up less than a year after getting engaged.
In the image, Dobrev sits on a couch with a baby on her lap as another child comes in for a hug. She’s smiling with both kids in her arms.
A source told PEOPLE on Tuesday that the actress is now out of the country and being “supported by family” after the split.
PEOPLE confirmed the pair’s breakup last week when a source revealed it was a “mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another.”
The couple were first romantically linked in 2020. They later revealed they began dating in late 2019. White proposed to Dobrev in October at a New York City restaurant.
Conflicting Reports on Split Reasons
Multiple sources have since told PEOPLE that Dobrev wanted to get married and start a family, but White wasn’t on the same page.
“She is devastated. There was one reason: She wanted a family and wanted to get married – and he didn’t.”
Another source insisted the couple both “wanted marriage and kids” and that “it wasn’t just one-sided” for them.
“They both wanted marriage and children and were making plans to have a life together.”
Representatives for Dobrev and White have not responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment. The pair have not addressed the breakup news publicly.
Social Media Activity After Split
Fans have speculated on the reason for the couple calling it quits. A TikTok video from Dobrev gained attention as she mouthed along to an audio offering “advice for women trying to fix their man.”
“Listen, Bob the Builder, he’s got 10 other women trying to fix him too, and you all look like a damn construction crew.”
Some fans interpreted it as a subtle dig at her former fiancé.
White has been active on social media following the split. He’s marked his first trip back to Beijing since the 2022 Winter Olympics, after which he retired.
He also appeared on the 3rd Hour of Today and didn’t comment on the split news. Instead, he discussed the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy.
