Nina Dobrev has fans talking about her recent breakup again.
The actress, 36, split from fiancé Shaun White after five years in September, PEOPLE confirmed. In a TikTok posted on Nov. 13, she got people wondering how she’s really feeling about it.
In the video, she lip-synced to Ariana Grande’s “Break Free.” She held up her middle finger while the lyrics said, “If you want it, take it. I should’ve said it before.”
As the song continued and Grande sang “Tried to hide, fake it,” the Vampire Diaries star put her middle finger down. She held up her ring finger right on the “fake it” lyric.
She kept her ring finger up and smiled as she mouthed along to “I can’t pretend anymore.” Then she switched back to her middle finger as the video ended.
She wrote simply “” in the caption.
The post has over two million likes and more than 14 million views.
In the comments, many fans pointed out the connection between the lyrics and her recent split from White, 39. “‘Tried to fake it’ with the ring finger is insane work,” one fan wrote.
“Switching from the middle finger to the ring finger is iconic,” another commented.
Someone else noted, “She’s been glowing since that relationship ended.”
A source told PEOPLE in September that the breakup was a “mutual decision and wasn’t an easy one.” This came less than a year after White proposed.
Another TikTok resurfaced days after news of the split. In that clip, Dobrev used a viral sound about trying to “fix a man” while “10 other women” are also trying to. This raised eyebrows among fans.
Different Visions for the Future
Reporting has since emerged that the couple’s split happened because they had different visions for their future.
One source told PEOPLE that Dobrev is “devastated” by the breakup. It was due to “one reason: she wanted a family and wanted to get married – and he didn’t.”
Another insider told PEOPLE that both the actress and the athlete “wanted marriage and kids.” They said “it wasn’t just one-sided.”
