Nicole Kidman Shares Message About Looking Forward Amid Keith Urban Divorce

Nicole Kidman shared a message about “looking forward” as she welcomed 2026 with daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15 in Australia.

The Babygirl actress posted a photo on her Instagram Stories Friday showing her and both daughters with their backs to the camera, arms around each other as they looked out over Sydney’s water.

One daughter wore a headband reading “2026” while edited fireworks flashed in front of them.

“Looking forward into 2026 xx,” Kidman wrote across the image.

This marked Kidman’s first holiday season since her September divorce filing from husband Keith Urban after 19 years of marriage.

PEOPLE confirmed the couple separated in September, with Kidman filing for divorce on Sept. 30 citing “irreconcilable differences.”

A source close to Kidman told PEOPLE exclusively that the actress flew to Australia with her daughters to celebrate Christmas back home.

“Nicole and the girls are in Australia for Christmas. This is all she wanted after a tumultuous fall,” the insider said. “She just wanted to celebrate Christmas at home. She’s very excited.”

The source added that the Big Little Lies star is “doing well” despite the divorce proceedings.

“She’s been super positive and focused on things that she’s grateful for. And there are so many! She feels very blessed.”

Custody Arrangements

Kidman and Urban share Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret together. Kidman also has son Connor, 30, and daughter Bella, 33, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Court documents obtained by PEOPLE show the former couple agreed to a parenting plan that includes specific custody arrangements.

Kidman was designated the primary residential parent, spending 306 days annually with their daughters. Urban will have them for 59 days per year.

A source told PEOPLE in November that the daughters split time between both parents without conflict.

“Their daughters live with Nicole, but spend as much time with Keith as they want,” the insider said. “There is no drama.”

Another source added in December that both parents remain focused on co-parenting effectively.

“Nicole and Keith continue to co-parent. The focus is on their daughters. They both want to create a stable and supportive environment for them.”

Legal Requirements

The parenting plan includes provisions preventing either parent from speaking negatively about the other or their families.

The document, signed by Kidman on Sept. 6 and Urban on Aug. 29, states the pair would “encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families.”

Both Kidman and Urban were required to attend a parenting seminar within 60 days of the divorce filing.

The couple married in 2006 after meeting at a country music event in Los Angeles.
