JaNa Craig announced she’s ready to move on from her relationship with Kenny Rodriguez and “close this chapter” following their breakup last week.
The Love Island USA season 6 star shared her intentions in Instagram stories on July 31. Craig and Rodriguez broke up on July 27, according to a source who confirmed the split to PEOPLE.
“I want to close this chapter of my life. I don’t want it to take any more of my energy,” Craig wrote.
The couple placed third in the reality show’s sixth season before their relationship ended in a public dispute on social media.
Craig thanked fans for their support during the breakup. She acknowledged the overwhelming response from followers who sent messages of encouragement.
“I’ve seen all the love you guys have drowned me in on social media – it has been an overflow of just support and prayers, and that means more to me than you guys will ever know.”
She continued: “But I want to close this chapter of my life. I don’t want it to take any more of my energy, I don’t want it to take any more of y’all’s energy. I love you guys, but I need to move on.”
Craig also asked fans to leave Rodriguez’s family alone during the split. She emphasized that his relatives treated her well throughout their relationship.
“Please leave Kenny’s family alone,” she said, noting that Rodriguez’s family members “have been apologetic to me” during the ongoing drama.
The Breakup Timeline
Rumors began when Craig and Rodriguez unfollowed each other on Instagram. A source confirmed to PEOPLE on July 28 that the couple had split the previous day.
“They will not be getting back together,” the source said.
Craig initiated the breakup, according to the source. There was “no big, public blowout” initially, despite fan speculation about the circumstances.
The situation escalated when both posted statements about their split on July 29.
Rodriguez kept his message brief. He wrote that their relationship “was not something that could last long-term” and wished Craig well for the future.
Craig’s response was more detailed. She alluded to discovering troubling information about Rodriguez that led to their breakup.
“Please know that I have seen all the breakup theories and none have matched up to how terrible, disgusting and disappointing it truly is.”
She described learning that Rodriguez wasn’t the person she thought he was.
“Discovering that someone you loved isn’t who you thought they were and that the relationship you thought you were building hasn’t been genuine since day one has been truly devastating,” Craig wrote.
Craig later posted a more direct response to Rodriguez’s statement: “stfu you manipulative liar. You are not taking accountability and telling people the type of person you really are is insane to me!! My first statement was me being nice. Do not piss me off.”
Both Craig and Rodriguez continue to appear on Love Island: Beyond the Villa. The spin-off show follows season 6 contestants as they navigate life in Los Angeles after the main series ended.
The former couple’s appearances on the show will likely address their relationship and its aftermath.
