Khloé Kardashian revealed on her podcast that her ex-husband Lamar Odom destroyed years of her personal journals by burning them in front of her during their marriage.
The reality star shared the story for the first time on Khloé in Wonder Land, explaining why she no longer keeps a journal.
Odom found the journals she’d kept for years when he was “going through it” and “having a tough time,” Kardashian said. He was “incredibly paranoid” at the time.
“He was reading them and just was convinced that I was taking notes and sending them to the government or something crazy. And he threw all of them into a fire in front of me.”
The 41-year-old broke down as she watched years of memories disappear.
“I remember sobbing,” she continued. “It was years of my life in these journals, and they meant so much to me.”
Kardashian hasn’t written in a journal since that day. She felt like it was “taken away in a f—ing blink, and what was the point?”
The incident left her afraid to start journaling again.
“I do hate that I don’t do it anymore, but I also think there’s a piece of me that doesn’t want to ever risk that that could happen again,” she explained. “It’s more – I’m not gonna say traumatic – but I just don’t wanna open that up again.”
Marriage Ended After Years of Struggles
Kardashian and the former NBA player married in 2009 after knowing each other for just 30 days. They separated in 2013 but didn’t finalize their divorce until 2016.
The delay happened because Kardashian dismissed her initial filing to help Odom recover from a nearly-fatal drug overdose.
She’s been open about their relationship on her podcast over the past year. In March, she said she “wouldn’t change” her experience with Odom but learned important lessons.
“It was one of the best experiences of my life and I loved that, but I don’t think – I’ll never say never – I don’t think I would ever do that again,” she said. “Because you really don’t know the person.”
The exes reunited for the first time in nine years on a February episode of The Kardashians. Kardashian wanted to return some of his possessions she’d been keeping.
She said she didn’t “have a lot of emotion” about seeing Odom again. She compared their breakup to a “death.”
During their conversation, Odom admitted he put Kardashian “through a lot” and he “f—— up” by losing her. They parted on good terms, with Odom hoping they could become friends.
He told cameras that “100 pounds” had been lifted off his chest after seeing her.
Kardashian felt “relieved” after their talk. She said in a confessional: “I feel proud of myself. I feel like this is a part of my shedding process while I am preparing to get into my fourth decade of life.”
