Kevin Federline Reveals Britney Spears Divorce Settlement Amount

Kevin Federline is revealing financial details from his 2006 divorce from Britney Spears in his upcoming memoir.

Federline’s book You Thought You Knew hits shelves October 21. In it, he claims he received $20,000 per month in child support for their two sons and another $20,000 monthly in alimony for half the duration of their marriage.

The couple married in September 2004. Spears filed for divorce in November 2006 after 26 months of marriage.

They have two sons together: Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.

While Federline doesn’t reveal his total divorce settlement, Page Six reported it was allegedly in the $1-1.3 million range.

The Prenup Details

Federline writes that he signed a “pretty standard” prenup with Spears, though he didn’t think they needed one.

“I wasn’t some bum just sitting around waiting for a check. I was out there hustling, grinding, investing, working.”

But he says the money didn’t go as far as people might think.

“People hear figures like that and think you’re financially set. But the reality is far from that.”

He explains that raising two kids in Los Angeles came with major expenses. Rent, transportation, security, and childcare ate up much of the settlement.

“Raising two young boys in Los Angeles, while maintaining the security and stability they needed, came with a price tag that would make anyone’s head spin.”

Spears’ Side of the Story

Spears addressed their financial arrangement in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me. She wrote that to see her kids as much as possible, she “did everything I could to appease Kevin.”

She claims she paid Federline’s legal bills, child support, and “thousands more a month so the kids could come along with me on the Circus tour.”

“There is nothing I love more – nothing more important to me on this earth – than my children. I’d lay down my life for them.”

Current Tensions

Since Federline began promoting his book, Spears’ representative told PEOPLE that “once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin.”

The statement continued: “All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”

Spears responded on her X profile, saying she’s “had enough” of Federline “constantly gaslighting” her.

“I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys. Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.”

The next day, she posted another statement about her allegations that he’s using the opportunity to “profit” from her pain.

Federline’s Response

Federline denied claims that he published the book solely for money. In an interview with Extra, he said:

“I think if you read the book and you’ll see that over the course of my life, I’ve realized what matters to me most, and it’s definitely not money. My family means more to me than anything money could ever buy.”
