Another interview with Keith Urban has gone viral following news of his separation from Nicole Kidman.
The country star appeared uncomfortable when asked about his relationship with the Babygirl actress during a September 2 interview on Australian radio. The clip has resurfaced and gained attention since news broke of their divorce on September 29.
Speaking on Gold 101.7’s Jonesy & Amanda, Urban dodged questions about how he and Kidman first met at an event.
“If you hadn’t both been there that day, would your paths somewhere have inevitably crossed? Or maybe this incredible life story wouldn’t have happened,”
cohost Amanda Keller asked the 57-year-old musician.
“No, I think it would,”
Urban replied. When Keller asked if he believed in fate, Urban simply said
“No idea,”
creating an awkward silence.
“I just often think that. That if you weren’t at that event, maybe you don’t have the same friendship group, it may never have happened,”
Keller continued.
Urban grew visibly uncomfortable during the exchange. He unbuttoned and removed his jacket before cutting the conversation short.
“You never know. Anyway, moving on,”
he concluded.
The radio show’s Instagram account reshared the clip on September 30.
“Prior to this, Keith Urban loved chatting about Nicole Kidman with us! He encouraged it, actually,”
Similar Interview Raises Questions
Another interview from July shows Urban appearing uncomfortable while discussing Kidman. During an appearance on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, the host asked about how the couple managed their busy schedules.
“Is that something with your life, her life and mapping it all out with production and touring – that’s a job, isn’t it?”
Seacrest asked.
Urban paused before responding.
“It’s a job. Yeah. Life is in session.”
Divorce Filing Details
The couple’s separation was announced on Monday, September 29. They had been married for almost 20 years.
Kidman filed for divorce the following day in Nashville, where she and the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer had lived since 2007. She cited irreconcilable differences, with the separation date listed as the filing date.
Sources close to the situation told PEOPLE that Urban has
“just been going through some stuff”
recently.
“He has been making questionable choices for some time now and this was not the case of them just drifting apart,”
a source in Kidman’s circle added.
Another source described the split as
“turning dramatic.”
“Nicole’s hurt and feels betrayed. She wanted to save their marriage and believed that she could, but it seems he’s already moved on.”
The source continued:
“Their lives were moving in different directions, and once he quietly set up his own place, it felt like the writing was on the wall.”
Marriage Timeline
Urban and the 58-year-old actress were last seen together publicly in June at a Nashville event.
They share two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
The former couple had been together since meeting at an industry event in the mid-2000s. Their nearly two-decade marriage made them one of country music’s most high-profile couples.
