PEOPLE confirmed the separation of Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman on Monday, Sept. 29, ending months of speculation about the country music star and actress.
The couple’s last public social media appearance together came in May following the ACM Awards, where Urban received the Triple Crown Award.
Last Public Moments Together
Urban’s final Instagram post featuring Kidman showed the pair smiling in the back of a car after leaving the awards ceremony. The 57-year-old country singer had just been honored at the event.
Another photo from that night captured Kidman, 58, sitting alongside Urban and country legend Alan Jackson with his wife Denise at the awards show.
During his acceptance speech that evening, Urban gave Kidman a public shoutout.
“TRIPLE CROWN !!! it was a surreal feeling and truly humbling honor to be recognized at the @acmawards last night,” Urban wrote in his caption.
He thanked the performers who honored him during the ceremony, including Meg Moroney, Chris Stapleton, and Brothers Osborne.
Signs of Separation
While Urban’s last post featuring them together was in May, Kidman marked their 19th wedding anniversary on Instagram in June.
“Happy Anniversary Baby @KeithUrban,” she wrote alongside a photo of herself cuddled up to Urban.
Urban responded with a red heart emoji at the time.
The couple was last seen together publicly on June 20 in Nashville. They attended the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup match between Los Angeles Football Club and Esperance de Tunis at GEODIS Park, just days before their anniversary post.
Family Support During Split
A source close to the situation provided details about the separation to PEOPLE.
“Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another,” the source said.
The source indicated the split wasn’t Kidman’s choice.
“She didn’t want this. She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
Marriage and Family Background
Urban and Kidman married in June 2006 and share two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
The Babygirl actress was previously married to Tom Cruise. They share two children: Bella Kidman Cruise, 32, and Connor Cruise, 30.
