Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom End Engagement

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have called it quits.

PEOPLE can confirm that the couple, who got engaged in 2019, have gone their separate ways. TMZ was first to report the news.

Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016.

At the time, they fought over an In-N-Out burger.

“I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out. We were at the Golden Globes and we weren’t together. So I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs and all of a sudden I see my boyfriend’s hand - he wasn’t even sitting at our table - he just swoops in and he grabs it and I was like, ‘Hey that’s my burger!'”

She shared the story during an episode of American Idol.

They made their relationship Instagram official in May 2016 after attending the Cannes Film Festival. But by February 2017, the couple announced they’d split - though they remained friends.

Perry later opened up about the year-long break during an appearance on Call Her Daddy.

“We’re friends, it’s good. We’re all grown up. She happens to be someone who is very visible, but I don’t think anybody cares about what I’m up to. Nor should they. It’s between us. It’s better to set an example for kids and show that [breakups] don’t have to be about hate.”

Bloom said this in April 2017.

Getting Back Together

In February 2018, a source told PEOPLE that the couple was spending time together - but "not necessarily putting a label on it."

“They are not girlfriend and boyfriend. They do seem very happy together though. Orlando always had the nicest things to say about Katy. He loves spending time with her.”

Months later, in September, they made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Gala for the Global Ocean at the Opera of Monte-Carlo in Monaco.

On Valentine’s Day 2019, Bloom proposed.

Perry revealed the details during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“Orlando had planned this for a while. He wanted it all to be special.”

A source told PEOPLE that he even asked for her parents’ approval beforehand.

Baby and Wedding Plans

Perry and Bloom announced they were expecting a baby in the singer’s music video for "Never Worn White" in March 2020.

The couple was set to wed in Japan in early summer 2020. They had to postpone their wedding due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In August 2020, they welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove.

Bloom is also dad to son Flynn, 14, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

A year later, Perry told PEOPLE that motherhood was "just the best in the world. It’s the game-changer." She added, "My heart is so full, finally."

Recent Public Appearances

The couple continued to support each other professionally. In September 2024, Bloom presented Perry with her Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards.

That same month, Perry attended the premiere of Bloom’s movie The Cut during the Toronto Film Festival.

In September 2024, Perry opened up about Bloom’s energy as a romantic partner during an appearance on Apple Music with Zane Lowe.

“He’s a real sage. We both have parts of ourselves. There’s two parts of us, our highest good, and then our carnal, material self. Ego. When the ego is running the show, then it’s like, ‘Whoa.’ But when that’s in check, then we’re both something else.”

Speaking with PEOPLE in January 2025, Perry discussed navigating her personal life - including her relationship with Bloom - while touring.

“I’ve talked a lot about love languages and how important they are in learning your partner’s love language, and even if it isn’t your love language, tapping into that for them.”

Most recently, during her Lifetimes Tour stop at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Perry jokingly accused a fan of "DM’ing my man."

“Listen, if you keep DM’ing my man… Oh, Kyle? I know, I know. You’ve been doing it for months, ever since the [Play] residency. You didn’t come to see me play. If you keep on DM’ing my man, I’m going to have you removed. Seriously, get your own life.”
