Katy Perry Breaks Silence After Orlando Bloom Split with First Social Media Post

Katy Perry shared her first social media post since confirming her split from Orlando Bloom.

The singer posted photos on Instagram Friday showing her day at Rottnest Island in Australia. She captioned the post “mood: Quokka” after posing with the marsupials native to the area.

PEOPLE confirmed Thursday that Perry and Bloom ended their engagement after nine years together.

The Instagram carousel showed Perry, 40, exploring the nature reserve with her 4-year-old daughter Daisy Dove. One photo captured Daisy sitting at what appeared to be a ship’s wheel, wearing a knit top and sweatpants with her hair in a bun.

Perry dressed casually for the outing in a light jacket, leggings and sneakers. She added a cap for bike riding and card games with her team.

The post came hours before Perry’s scheduled performance in Adelaide as part of her sold-out Lifetimes tour.

About Quokkas

According to National Geographic, quokkas are “teddy bear-sized marsupials” found only in southwestern Australia. They’re often called the “happiest animal in the world.”

Perry’s choice to compare her mood to the famously cheerful animals comes as she navigates her relationship changes.

The Split

A source told PEOPLE on Thursday that Perry and Bloom, 48, are “pretty much done.”

“They don’t really see them being able to turn things around here,” the source said.

The couple met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016 and got engaged in 2019. They welcomed Daisy on August 26, 2020.

Bloom also has a 14-year-old son, Flynn, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

Co-Parenting Focus

Perry plans to maintain a positive relationship with Bloom for their daughter’s sake.

“Katy has every intention of maintaining a positive and respectful relationship with Orlando. He’s the father of their daughter and that will always come first for her.”

While Perry continues her Australian tour, Bloom has been attending Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding festivities in Venice. He’s been spotted with Tom Brady, attorney Alex Spiro, and members of the Kardashian family.

Last week in Australia, Perry and Daisy met characters from the children’s show Bluey. She posted about the experience on Instagram, calling it an “AUS side quest.”

The “Teenage Dream” singer appeared in good spirits throughout her island adventure, suggesting she’s finding ways to stay positive during this transition.
