Jessica Simpson and estranged husband Eric Johnson were spotted together this weekend for the first time since announcing their separation in January.
The former couple was seen boarding a flight from Burbank, California to Las Vegas on Friday without their three children, per TMZ.
Simpson, 45, wore aviators and an oversized red crewneck for the trip. Johnson, 45, sported a Georgia Institute of Technology baseball cap and blue button-down shirt over a black T-shirt.
The pair traveled to Las Vegas to attend Ashlee Simpson’s residency kickoff show at Voltaire at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas that night.
Video footage captured by TMZ showed the “Leave” artist and former NFL player standing near each other and speaking with a group of people before the show.
During the performance, they appeared to maintain more distance as Jessica watched her sister take the stage.
Fan-captured TikTok footage from the concert showed Jessica singing along near the stage as Ashlee performed “Pieces of Me.” Johnson wasn’t standing near her during that part of the show.
The clip also captured Ashlee’s husband Evan Ross walking up the steps to hug his wife while she sang the track’s chorus.
Separation Announcement
Jessica and Johnson announced their separation in January after 10 years of marriage.
“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson said in a statement to PEOPLE at the time.
“Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
Johnson was spotted without his wedding ring in November 2024. A source told PEOPLE at the time that the couple “very much live separate lives.”
The former couple met in 2010 and married in 2014. They share three children: Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 13, Ace Knute, 12, and Birdie Mae, 6.
Moving Forward
In February, Jessica revealed how making new music in Nashville for her Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1 EP helped her through the heartbreak.
“I’ve grown up so much. I can handle so much,” she told PEOPLE. “Maybe I’m just meant to love a lot of people in my life.”
“I don’t know why my heart gets tossed around but I’m one of the lucky ones. At least I have my children and I still have Eric. He’s still very much a part of my life and will always be.”
The weekend reunion marks their first public appearance together since announcing their separation seven months ago.
