Jenny McCarthy shared her thoughts on using AI for relationship advice during the Jan. 7 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
The comments came in response to Southern Charm star Craig Conover revealing he used ChatGPT to process his feelings after his breakup with Paige DeSorbo.
McCarthy, 53, didn’t hold back her opinion on the matter.
“I wanna know, Jenny, your reaction to Craig telling Whitner he cried while talking to ChatGPT about Paige,” host Andy Cohen, 57, asked during the show.
“Well, first of all, the fact that he cries for ChatGPT, it’s a little bit – I don’t know – feminine?,” McCarthy replied.
She added more context to her concerns about AI relationships.
“You can get advice from it, but when you’re having an emotional relationship with your phone … that’s what I call a red flag.”
The Breakup That Started It All
Conover, 36, and DeSorbo, 33, announced their split in December 2024 after three years together.
DeSorbo first shared the news during the Dec. 30, 2024, episode of her Giggly Squad podcast. She told co-host Hannah Berner that she and Conover had “decided to no longer be together.”
The Summer House star spoke warmly about her ex-boyfriend despite the breakup.
“I have so much love and respect for Craig. I think he is one of the best people I have ever met in my entire life,” DeSorbo said.
She continued with praise for Conover’s character.
“I will remain the biggest fan of him and want the best for him and he truly will get the best because he is the best. But with that said, I think it was just the right decision for both of us moving forward in our lives and the direction in our lives that we didn’t force.”
Craig’s Response
Conover waited several weeks before addressing the split publicly.
He posted on his Instagram Stories on Jan. 7, 2025, revealing the breakup caught him off guard.
“I figured it’s finally time to check in with everyone,” he wrote. “Sorry about the delay, this has all been very, very unexpected to say the least … But I guess I gotta start living again, whatever that looks like. Whatever my new normal looks like – I have to start.”
The former couple were friends for several years before they began dating. They first met in 2019 and built their relationship from that foundation.
Their romance played out publicly on both Southern Charm and Summer House, with fans following their long-distance relationship between Charleston and New York.
