Jennifer Lopez appeared surprised when she spotted ex-husband Ben Affleck at the New York City premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman on Monday.
Cameras captured the moment Lopez noticed Affleck on the red carpet during a live interview. Video shared by Access Hollywood shows the 56-year-old actress turning around mid-conversation and seeing her ex-husband behind her.
“Hey, you’re here!” Lopez said to Affleck after he called out to her and asked her to pose for a photo.
Lopez was speaking with Access Hollywood reporter Emily Orozco about her children’s reaction to her first movie musical when Affleck walked into the frame. The 53-year-old actor appeared alongside Lopez’s costar Tonatiuh.
“Yes, I’ll get in the picture right now,” she told Affleck, who serves as executive producer on the project.
Lopez finished answering the reporter’s question before moving to greet Affleck.
“They’re excited, they invited their friend here tonight, so we’re all excited, we’re going to have a big family night,” she said about her children.
Affleck’s supportive appearance comes after the former couple’s 2025 divorce. His company Artists Equity, which he co-founded with Matt Damon, co-produced the film.
The pair first met in 2002 and began dating. They ended their engagement in 2004 and pursued other relationships. In 2021, they rekindled their romance and married in Las Vegas in July 2022. They held a second ceremony in Georgia the following month.
Lopez shares 17-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
Affleck has three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13.
Affleck’s Role in Making the Film
Lopez previously told CBS Sunday Morning in September that “the movie wouldn’t have been made if it wasn’t for [Affleck] and Artists Equity.”
Kiss of the Spider Woman adapts the 1993 Broadway musical of the same name.
“I told him, ‘This is a role that I was born to play,’ and I wanted to do it, and he said ‘Okay,’ and he helped make it happen,” Lopez explained in that interview.
Kiss of the Spider Woman opens in theaters October 10.
