Huda Mustafa wants to set the record straight about her breakup with Chris Seeley on Love Island USA.
The 24-year-old spoke exclusively with PEOPLE about her decision to end things during the season 7 finale. Fans were stunned by Chris’s reaction when she broke up with him during their date, but Huda says there’s much more to the story.
“Obviously there was so much that was done to me, or I’ve noticed about him, that made me have doubts about him. And that’s what happens when you get to know somebody. You get to know somebody, they might not be your match, and that’s okay. But I could tell that he had a wandering eye. I could tell that he would tell me to shut up.”
Intimacy Claims and Behavior Changes
Huda claims Chris exaggerated their physical relationship to other villa members.
“He would boast about sleeping with me when it wasn’t even all the way in, first of all. Like, calm the f— down.”
She says after they were “kind of intimate,” Chris began pulling away and paying less attention to her. His communication style also bothered her.
“I would ask him to compliment me in a meaningful, thoughtful way, like a man would, and he would compliment with, ‘sheesh,’ and s— like that. And it’s like, you’re 27, you’re saying you’re a full-grown man and you should be treated like a man, and this is how you compliment a woman?”
The pattern extended to how he treated other women in the villa.
“He would say things about women that I probably didn’t really want to hear right in front of my face. He would do the nickname thing for girls, and never gave me a nickname. Little things, it’s like, what are you doing?”
Group Settings and Final Straw
Huda noticed Chris’s behavior in group conversations was particularly telling.
“We would have conversations in group settings, I would speak, he wouldn’t look at me. Another woman would speak, he’s giving her his full attention. He wants to be around another woman, and then I’m over here, like, ‘Okay, f— me. All right, cool.'”
The final moment came during their dinner date the night before winners were announced. The scene where Chris refused to carry her through the water went viral, but Huda says viewers didn’t see everything.
“He walked back up to me, and he was trying to help me or something, and I just told him, I was like, ‘Are you going to carry me or should I walk?’ Because mind you, the water had rocks in it, and it was slippery, and you don’t know if there could be glass in there or something. And then he was just like, ‘No.’ And I said, ‘Okay, then I’ll walk my f—— self. I’ll f—— walk myself.’ That part wasn’t shown, and that’s when he walked away.”
Chris Responds to Claims
Chris Seeley brushed off Huda’s claims in a separate interview with PEOPLE.
When asked about having “a wandering eye,” he said:
“I don’t even know what that means.”
He disagreed with her claims about boasting about their sex life.
“Don’t nobody brag. It’s on camera, so I don’t need to brag. Trust me, that’s not something that I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, I’m proud of it.’ No, not at all. I didn’t even want to do things with her because she wouldn’t even give me a kiss, so I don’t think I would be proud to be like, ‘Oh yeah, I did that with her,’ in my opinion.”
