Dermot Mulroney has filed for divorce from his wife Prima Apollinaare after 15 years of marriage, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The Chicago Fire actor signed the petition on June 21, citing irreconcilable differences. Mulroney, who’s representing himself, listed their separation date as "TBD."
The 61-year-old actor requested joint physical and legal custody of their two daughters: Mabel Ray, 17, and Sally June, 15.
He also asked that attorney fees be split between them. Mulroney requested the court terminate its ability to award Apollinaare spousal support, but asked for spousal support for himself.
A source close to the situation tells PEOPLE the filing doesn’t reflect any actual disputes.
“No one is asking for anything, and no one is denying anything. They are not arguing over the children nor money.”
“They used mediators, not lawyers, as they are friends and this is amicable. They were advised to file this way.”
The documents state that "all community earnings and accumulation during marriage through the date of separation" will be considered community property, though the pair hasn’t fully established the nature and extent of their assets.
How They Met
Mulroney and Apollinaare started dating in 2008, about a year after his divorce from actress Catherine Keener.
They welcomed their first daughter that same year. Their second daughter followed before they officially married in December 2010.
Music brought them together. Mulroney’s a professional cellist who’s played on soundtracks for Planet of the Apes and films in the Mission: Impossible franchise. Apollinaare’s a singer-songwriter.
Apollinaare, who changed her name from Tharita Cutulle in 2015, is originally from Italy. She’s said music was always her passion, growing up in a musical family.
“[I] got into music since I was born. My mom is a singer. My dad played Trumpet and piano,”
she told Lost In The Manor in 2023.
Working Together
The couple has collaborated professionally over the years.
In 2010, Apollinaare was listed as one of Mulroney’s producing partners for a biopic he was set to direct, according to the Associated Press via The Hollywood Reporter.
She doesn’t share his taste for all his film projects, though. Mulroney told the New York Post that Apollinaare wasn’t a fan of his horror movies like Scream IV.
“I don’t think she’ll probably even see this movie because I know what her tolerance is. She can’t even look at half of the posters.”
