Christina Perri filed for divorce from Paul Costabile after seven years of marriage, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The 39-year-old singer submitted the paperwork at the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles on Monday, Nov. 3. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.
Perri and Costabile married on Dec. 12, 2017.
The couple shares two daughters: Carmella Stanley, 7, and Pixie Rose, 3.
Perri listed their separation date as Nov. 3 in the filing. She’s requesting joint legal and physical custody of both children. The singer also asked the court to deny spousal support to Costabile.
Marriage and Family
Costabile announced their marriage on Instagram in 2017. He shared a photo of the couple, writing about meeting his “dream girl” four years earlier.
“Pretty sure I’m the proudest I’ve EVER been to be able to call the most bellissima person + woman I’ve ever known now my wife,” he wrote at the time. “I thank God for the gift of her, our relationship, our bambino on the way, our family’s love and support and this unforgettable year.”
The couple welcomed their first daughter, Carmella, in January 2018.
Their journey to expand their family faced challenges. Perri announced a miscarriage at 11 weeks in January 2020. After announcing another pregnancy in July 2020, she shared that the baby had been “born silent” that November.
Pixie arrived nearly two years later in October 2022.
Recent Projects
Perri published a children’s book inspired by her hit song “A Thousand Years” in April. The book represents her continued creative work beyond music.
The “Jar of Hearts” singer hasn’t made any public statements about the divorce filing. Court documents don’t reveal additional details about the couple’s separation or custody arrangements beyond Perri’s initial requests.
