Cardi B opened up about her relationship with ex-husband Offset during a CBS Mornings interview on Sept. 17. The rapper made it clear she’s moved on from their marriage.
“I filed for divorce a year ago,” Cardi said. “That should be very clear. I don’t deal with that, I don’t mess with that, I don’t have no contact with that.”
The 29-year-old rapper said she’s “so tired” of being associated with Offset.
New Album Addresses Past Marriage
Host Gayle King read lyrics from Cardi’s upcoming song “Man of Your Word,” which will appear on her new album Am I the Drama?
“Seven years I admit, it wasn’t all bad / Skeletons in my closet too / As a wife I should’ve realized you were hurt / But instead I put my music first / But I really do wish you the best / Continue being a winner / If I had one wish / I wish you would’ve been a man of your word.”
“I just wish he was a better person, but it is what it is,” Cardi responded. “Be a better person for your kids.”
When asked about future co-parenting, Cardi paused before saying “not right now.”
Cardi and Offset share three children: daughter Kulture Kiari, 7, son Wave Set, 4, and daughter Blossom Belle, who just turned 1.
“I don’t really have hate in my heart anymore,” she said. “I think he has some type of hate in his heart right now… I don’t know how long that’s gonna take for him but that’s always been my wish.”
Co-Parenting Challenges
The rapper explained her frustration with their current dynamic.
“I get along with everybody that I dated. If we all move on, there shouldn’t be no animosity. Your life, my life. Separate. We should be able to raise kids,” she continued.
“We should be able to ask each other questions. We should be able to be like, ‘Hey, look what one of the kids just did,’ ‘Look at this,’ ‘Look at the report card.’ We should be able to celebrate but it’s not about the kids. One thing I’m learning is it’s not about the kids.”
Cardi first filed for divorce in September 2020 but later reconciled. She filed again in July 2024 after confirming their split in December 2023.
In a recent Billboard interview, Cardi gave a blunt response when asked about maintaining a friendship with Offset.
“I tried,” she said. “Next question.”
Offset’s Response
Offset, 33, who released his album Kiari in August, told TMZ on Sept. 9 there’s no competition between them.
“I just want all peace, man, for us to win, everybody gotta win. We got kids to take care of, we got to catch the dubs.”
He said he would “for sure” support Am I the Drama? when it releases Sept. 19. “That s— hard,” he said. “She’s gonna do her big one, too.”
New Relationship
During the same CBS Mornings interview, Cardi revealed she’s “having a baby with my boyfriend, Stefon Diggs.”
“I’m happy,” she said. “I feel like I’m in a good space. I feel very strong, very powerful that I’m doing all this work – but I’m doing all this work while I’m creating a baby.”
Diggs is a 31-year-old wide receiver for the New England Patriots.
“He just makes me feel safe and very confident and very strong,” Cardi said about their relationship.
Cardi and Diggs have been linked since October 2024.
