Cardi B Gives Blunt Response About Estranged Husband Offset

Cardi B made it clear she’s not interested in discussing her relationship with estranged husband Offset during her new Billboard cover story.

When asked if she could see maintaining a friendship with the Migos rapper after their 2024 split, the Grammy winner gave a brief response.

“I tried. Next question.”

The 32-year-old rapper moved on quickly from the topic, but her answer spoke volumes about where things stand between the former couple.

Seven Years and Two Divorce Filings

Cardi married Offset, 33, in 2017. She first filed for divorce three years later before the pair reconciled.

She filed for divorce again in July 2024.

The couple shares three children: Kulture, 7, Wave, who turns 4 on Sept. 4, and Blossom, 1.

A Life Reset

The “Bodak Yellow” star described this period of her life as “confusing” and compared it to starting over. She’s preparing to return to touring after taking a break.

“That’s a reset there. Then, it’s a reset on my personal life. The last time I was on the road, I had one kid. Now I have three kids. I was married, now I’m getting a divorce. I’m dating. It’s a reset on everything.”

Since their breakup, both musicians have been open about their frustrations with each other.

During an X Spaces session in June, Cardi revealed how much their marriage had affected her mental health.

“I don’t think people understand how tired I was. How tired, how mentally drained I was. Drained, drained, drained. Couldn’t eat. I was getting frequent headaches. I was literally losing my mind…. And I gave it chances after chances after chances after chances after chances after chances.”

She said staying in the marriage would have led to serious consequences.

“I was going to end up going to jail, ’cause I was going to end up killing them. Seriously, with my own bare hands. ‘Cause it was just getting so… it was just getting too much.”

More Than Infidelity

Cardi explained their divorce stemmed from issues beyond cheating. She cited “the constant lies, the gaslighting” as major factors that were “really messing up with my head.”

In August, Offset released his album Kiari, which included a closing track called “Move On.”

The rapper confirmed to the Associated Press that the song addresses the end of his marriage. The track features lyrics like “You f—ed around with the wrong dude / Hope your next n—- be great.”

“It’s about moving on, like, peacefully. That’s what the message is supposed to be. It’s all love and peace. I just ended the album with that, just to end that chapter because it’s time to move on – it’s over and done with. It was great while it lasted. That shouldn’t be the topic for either one of us no more. It’s a book that’s closed.”

Dating Again

Cardi has since begun dating NFL star Stefon Diggs, 31. She admitted that returning to the dating scene publicly after such a high-profile divorce has been challenging.

“It’s tough hiding. It’s tough dating in your 30s, too, but I like him. I love him, today. I was always scared of dating people [because] I’ve always been in a long relationship since I was like 21.”

The Billboard cover story was published one day after Cardi was found not liable for assault and battery against former security guard Emani Ellis.

Ellis had sued the rapper for $24 million, claiming Cardi assaulted her outside a Beverly Hills medical office in 2018.
