Amy Schumer has officially filed for divorce from husband Chris Fischer after revealing their breakup on Instagram Dec. 12.
The comedian and actress announced the end of their marriage after more than seven years together. Schumer said the split is “amicable” and with “all love and respect.”
Court documents show Schumer filed the divorce paperwork following her public announcement on social media. The filing comes just days after she broke the news to her followers in a heartfelt Instagram post.
The couple married in February 2018 in a private ceremony in Malibu. They have one child together, son Gene, who was born in 2019.
“This decision wasn’t made lightly, but we both feel it’s the right choice for our family moving forward,” Schumer wrote in her Instagram post.
Fischer, a chef and cookbook author, has been largely supportive of Schumer’s career throughout their relationship. The pair often appeared together at public events and on Schumer’s social media accounts.
Sources close to the couple indicate they’ve been working through relationship challenges for several months. The decision to divorce was reportedly mutual.
Schumer has been open about personal struggles during their marriage, including her experiences with autism advocacy after Fischer’s diagnosis. She’s also discussed balancing her comedy career with motherhood and marriage.
The comedian continues her scheduled tour dates and upcoming projects. Her representatives haven’t provided additional details about custody arrangements or financial agreements.
Fischer operates a farm-to-table restaurant and has co-authored cookbooks. He’s maintained a relatively private presence compared to his soon-to-be ex-wife’s public profile.
Both Schumer and Fischer have requested privacy during this transition for their family’s well-being. No additional court hearings have been scheduled at this time.
