Amy Schumer announced on Instagram that she and husband Chris Fischer have ended their marriage after over seven years together.
The comedian, 44, shared the news Friday alongside a photo of herself, Fischer, 45, and their son on the New York City subway.
“Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” Schumer wrote. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time. blah blah blah not becisse I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag s basket and not because he’s a hot Janlmes beard award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”
A source close to the pair told PEOPLE there’s nothing contentious about the split.
“There’s nothing ugly. It’s a cohesive split. They’ve just been finalizing a few things,” the source said.
Schumer and Fischer married in February 2018 after dating since 2017. They share 5-year-old son Gene, who was born in May 2019.
Speculation about their relationship had been circulating online for weeks before the announcement. In November, sources told PEOPLE the couple was working through typical marriage issues and remained committed to each other.
The Trainwreck actress had addressed the rumors directly on social media in recent months.
She wrote on Instagram Stories in November alongside a photo of New York City: “And Chris and I are still married,” while praising Hulu’s divorce-lawyer series All’s Fair.
On December 1, Schumer posted a longer statement about the speculation surrounding her marriage.
“Whatever ends up happening with me and Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism,” she wrote, referring to her recent health journey and Fischer’s autism diagnosis.
“Fingers crossed we make it through,” she continued. “He’s the best.”
The post came after Schumer had deleted all previous photos from her Instagram profile in November, including those featuring Fischer.
“I actually left my house tonight. Who’s proud? I’m feeling good and happy. Deleted my old pics for no reason!” she captioned a new post at the time.
The former couple last appeared together publicly at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival premiere of documentary Room To Move in June.
Fischer, a James Beard Award-winning chef, has autism spectrum disorder, which Schumer has spoken about openly throughout their relationship.
