Alix Earle opened up about her recent split from NFL player Braxton Berrios after more than two years of dating.
The 24-year-old influencer shared an emotional video on Instagram on Dec. 13 explaining what led to the breakup with the 30-year-old professional athlete.
“It’s just been really hard to process in general, and I think why I’ve been scared to say something is because I feel like it just makes it more real,” Earle said in the video.
“Braxton and I are no longer together. We have been doing long distance since basically June and we haven’t gotten to see each other that often.”
The Dancing with the Stars alum explained that during a recent trip to Los Angeles, she realized she “really liked it and I thought maybe I wanted to stay there.”
That realization created problems for their relationship.
“I think that was a scary thing for me to realize because it meant us not being in the same place,” she continued. “A part of me just also really wants to be focusing on myself right now and I just feel like I can’t be what Braxton needs.”
Earle said she wanted Berrios to have someone who could “support him and be there for him” all the time. She admitted that while he wasn’t expecting that from her, she “constantly felt guilty” about not being able to provide that level of support.
The influencer made it clear that she and Berrios remain on good terms despite their split.
“We’re on good terms and I don’t want anyone to come for him or be mean to him,” she emphasized. She specifically addressed criticism Berrios received for not attending her Dancing with the Stars performances, saying it wasn’t his fault because of his football commitments.
Earle described feeling like she and Berrios have been “on two different paths” but stressed that she still loves the NFL star and considers him her best friend.
She also admitted to questioning her own feelings about the breakup.
“I think the scary part is, part of me doesn’t know if how I feel even makes sense. I think I question myself a lot of, ‘Why do I feel this way?’ or ‘Are these feelings correct?'”
The day after sharing the Instagram video, Earle was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport wearing an off-white sweatsuit.
The couple first met at a party in February 2023 and began dating shortly after.
As she looks toward her next chapter, Earle shared a TikTok post on Dec. 10 about wanting to celebrate her upcoming 25th birthday differently this year.
“Is my frontal lobe developing bc I’m about to turn 25 and usually I stress abt having the biggest party but all I want to do is workout, meditate, play card games, & have good convos w the ppl closest to me,” she wrote.
She added in the caption: “Either I’m maturing or just rlly going thru it .. maybe both.”
